One Gurmeet Singh,a resident of Badiyewal village,has been booked by the police for hunting wild boar on Friday afternoon. The FIR has been registered on the complaint of forest officer Khushwinder Singh. As per the complaint,on a tip-off the house of the raided and the police found hair,liver,and lungs of wild boar. The accused is at large,the police said. Gurmeet has been booked under the wild life act. Efforts are on to nab the accused,the police said.

Cyber Olympiad held at DAV School
The ninth National Cyber Olympiad by Science Olympiad Foundation was conducted at DAV Public School today. As many as 140 students from Classes II to IX participated in the event.

150 examined at free medical camp
As many as 150 patients were examined at a free medical camp organised yesterday under the aegis of Sardarni Sukhninder Kaur Memorial Charitable Hospital,Lohara in Moga. A team of consultants and senior residents from DMCH,who participated in the camp included Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina (Gastroenterology),Dr Rajinder Bansal (Neurology),Dr Deepak Jain (Orthopaedics),Dr Amandeep Ahuja (Medicine) and Dr Ankita (Gynae). Dr Deepak Jain said people in Punjab were becoming more prone to ortho-related problems like arthritis due to their sedentary lifestyle and lack of physical and manual work. Free medicines were also distributed among the patients during the camp.

Youth day and Makar Sankranti celebrated
Literary Club of Shifaly International School celebrated Youth Day and Makar Sankranti. To commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda,a declamation contest was also organised. The school director inspired students to follow the path shown by Vivekananda.

‘Promote trade relations between India and Canada’
Joint efforts will be done to promote the business relations between Punjab and Canada with the help of Canadian Punjabi MPs,this was announced by Gubax Singh Malhi and Sukh Dhaliwal,MPs from Canada,in a seminar on the Indo-Canadian business opportunities organised by the United Cycles Parts and Manufacturers Association. Tourism minister Hira Singh Gabria was also present on the occasion.
D S Chawla,President of the association,said,“Our bicycle unit will manufacture bicycle parts and a complete bicycle as well so as to explore its selling options in Canada.”
