To protest against the unbundling of Punjab State Education Board (PSEB),employees burnt an effigy of the board at the Aggar Nagar division office on Thursday. It has also been announced that a two-day strike will be observed in the entire state if the unbundling is gone ahead with. Swarn Singh,president of PSEB Employees Federation (INTUC),said,“More problems will be posed for the consumers after PSEB is divided into parts. Outsourcing has already troubled consumers a lot as the private companies are not performing the duties properly.”

Punjab Students’ Union stages dharna
The Punjab Students’ Union held a state-level demonstration at ITI Gill Road on Thursday to protest against the lathicharge on students in Moga and registration of a case against Gurmukh Singh Maan,president of the union,along with ten other students of ITI Moga.

Auctioned sugar to be lifted by April 15
Deputy Commissioner Rahul Tiwari has ordered that over 1 lakh quintal sugar which was auctioned on February 26 and 27 should be lifted by buyers by April 15 after paying the balance amount. Earlier,the high court had put a ban on the lifting of sugar. In case,buyers do not take the stock,the district magistrate can take action against the party concerned.

Ex-PAU student gives tips on leadership
Chief Executive Officer,ITIDA international,Anil Joshi visited Punjab Agricultural University on Thursday and delivered a special lecture for the business management students on “Deep Transformation-Time for Funky Basics”. Joshi,a professional speaker and event moderator is an alumnus of PAU College of Basic Sciences and Humanities. He shared his views on the competitiveness of multi-national companies (MNCs) during the economic slowdown and elaborated on the importance of strategy,talent,management,value-chain management and leadership qualities to overcome tough and challenging circumstances.

CIPHET signs MoU with poultry firm
The Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET),a premier institute of Indian Council of Agricultural Research,has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with White Pearls Poultry Farms on Thursday for licensing them meat processing and value addition technologies for commercial use in Ludhiana.

Training workshop on micro irrigation
A training workshop on micro irrigation was conducted by the Precision Farming Development Centre (PFDC),Department of Soil and Water Engineering,Punjab Agricultural University and Krishi Vigyan Kendra,Bahowal (Hoshiarpur) on Wednesday. Nearly 47 farmers participated in the programme.

Yoga camp on Apr 14
Patanjali Yog Samiti,Ludhiana,and district unit of Bharat Swabhiman Trust formed by yog guru Swami Ramdev,is organising a free yog vigyan camp on April 14 at Rakh Bagh Civil Lines in Ludhiana. Giving details of the camp,district president,Patanjali Yog Samiti,Pramodh Sharma said members will assemble at 5.30 AM at the venue and from 6.00 AM training will start. He said after the yog sadhna,experts will also attend to patients at the venue.
