Dr Jai Kishan said,“TB is the leading infectious killer of people living with HIV and accounts for an estimated 13 per cent of AIDS deaths worldwide. HIV and TB are so closely connected that they are often referred to as co-epidemics or dual epidemics. More collaborative action is recommended to widely implement programmes,including offering HIV testing and counselling to all TB patients,screening of people living with HIV for TB disease,providing TB treatment or preventive therapy to all co-infected people and providing cotrimoxazole and antiretroviral treatment to all TB patients with HIV to ensure control of TB infection in HIV affected patients.”

NGO Jago celebrates its third anniversary
Jago,a non-governmental organization,celebrated its third anniversary on Saturday by holding a conclave of city based-NGOs at Punjabi Bhawan. The representatives of about 22 NGOs participated in it where Dr S S Johl,former Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University,Patiala,presided over the function while Harish Rai Dhanda,Chief Parliamentary Secretary,was the chief guest on this occasion. All the NGOs discussed about their achievements and areas of the work and also suggested as how to create a common platform where they could meet,interact,seek and give help and also talk of causes that needed to be spread through word of mouth.
