Balwant Singh Nandgarh,Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib,along with preacher Baljit Singh Daduwal,visited Faridkot on Monday to meet the activists who were injured in a clash with the followers of Dera Sacha Sauda near Sadhanwala village on Sunday.
The two leaders held a meeting at the local gurdwara. Jathedar Nandgarh slammed the state government for showering patronage on the deras. Because of the current regime,the deras are prospering in Punjab. This is evident from the fact that the police,instead of taking action against the dera followers,prefer to sit quietly, he said.
Daduwal said: The police have admitted that the dera followers had opened fired. Arms used in the clash including a pistol some swords and sticks have also been recovered. However,no one has been arrested yet. Instead,the injured are being forced to leave hospitals at the earliest.
The leaders warned that in case the police does not book the dera followers,they will hold a much larger congregation at this very place. Faridkot SSP Gurmeet Singh Randhawa said: The situation is peaceful at the village. I have visited the place myself. For the time being,we have registered an FIR against unknown persons on the complaint of those injured.
