The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) has decided to dedicate one library to the exporters of not only Ludhiana,but the exporters of the whole region. This library was opened for a week in April on a trail basis. Receiving good feedback,the council members decided to extend the operation of the library by one year. This will be the fourth such library in India
The library aims to give tips to the exporters regarding fashion forecast,new designs,export trends,rules and regulations about export and much more.
There is also an e-library,where the information will be just a click away.
Initially Rs 12 lakh is being spent on the promotion of this library. Along with books and new software has already been loaded on the computers. The new librarians are busy being trained in the software,which will officially open next month.
Prachi Jethar,Senior Librarian of AEPC,will be coming in next month to assess the situation for efficient management of
the library.
Ludhiana exports nearly Rs 1,000 crores worth of apparel per annum,but this figure has not increases in the past few years. This was stated by the AEPC Chairman,Prem Udani on his recent visit to the city. Libraries in Delhi and Mumbai are of great help to the designers of export units and we expect the same from Ludhiana as well. They will get the best books,magazines and information from this library, said Udani.
