To raise their voice against incessant powercuts,a delegation of the Consumer Protection and Grievances Redressal Forum put forth their views at a public hearing meet today.

The petition in the forum was filed against the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) for imposing powercuts on consumers.

Speaking on the occasion, general secretary of the forum Col Angad Singh (Retd) said that imposing powercuts year after year is not the solution. “The authorities should take action against ‘kundi’ users. Regular checks should be carried out in the areas which are prone to power thefts. Heavy fines should be imposed on violators and criminal proceedings should be initiated,” he said.

N S Gill, president of the forum, stressed the need for alternate sources of energy.

“There is a need to have new power plants so that the consumers do not suffer every year,” he said.
