Youth gets free kidney transplant

Doctors at Aastha Kidney Hospital have helped a youth by not charging an fee for his kidney transplant operation. “About two weeks ago,20-year-old Mandeep Singh came to our hospital. His both kidneys were damaged. His father is a gardener and could not bear the expense of kidney transplantation. Then we decided to transplant Mandeep’s kidney free of cost,” said the hospital.

Differential park rates irk PMCs

The decision of Corporation to give payment to parks based on their size has not gone down with Park Management committees (PMCs). As per the new rates, parks with an area upto 1,500 square metres (sq m) will be paid Rs 1 for every sq m per month, while those between 1,500-4,000 sq m will be paid at the rate of Rs 1.5 per sq m. For large parks — 4,000 sq m and above — the rate will be Rs 1 per sq m per month. “The revised rates lack rationality,” said S S Chana, president of the federation of PMCs. “Since the area allotted to PMCs is upto 5,000 sq m,it would be great injustice to 14 PMCs who have parks with a size between 4,000-5,000 sq metres,” he added. “Uniform money should be paid to all,” he added.
