PPCC forms grievances cell
Ludhiana: Capt Amarinder Singh,President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) in consultation with Congress President Sonia Gandhi has constituted Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee Grievances Cell. Karanpal Singh Sekhon has been appointed as a Chairman of PPCC Grievances Cell, Sukhwinder Denny,General Secretary of Punjab Youth Congress (PYC) and Amarjeet Singh Tikka,former President Youth Congress,have been appointed co-chairman and Secretary of Grievances Cell respectively.
Govt college professor passes away
Ludhiana: The Punjab Government College Teachers Association (PGCTA) and Punjab Commerce and Management Association expressed grief over the untimely demise of Rajdeep Singh Gill,An associate professor and Head of the Political Science Department at SCD Government College,Ludhiana,Gill died of cardiac arrest at the age of 51 on Sunday September 4. He was actively involved in many academic and co-curricular activities such as NSS,NCC,blood donation,debate,declamation,cultural events and youth festivals. He was holding the additional charge of Additional Director Public Instructions (ADPI Legal) in the Department of Higher Education. He is survived by his wife,a son and a daughter. Bhog Ceremony will be held on Sunday September 11 at Guruduara Singh Sabha E-Block BRS Nagar from 12.30 pm to 2 pm.
DMCH doctor awarded fellowship
Ludhiana: Dr Jatinder Singh Goraya,Consultant Pediatric Neurologist at DMCH has been awarded a prestigious Fellowship in Neurology by Royal College of Physicians of Canada. He is the second neurologist from India to get this coveted fellowship. The fellowship is awarded to physicians,who successfully complete a comprehensive and rigorous training program and pass the certifying examination conducted by the Royal College. The fellowship awardees earn the privilege of using the professional designation FRCPC (Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada).The fellows are also required to participate in the Royal Colleges program of continuing professional development to maintain certification and fellowship. It also enjoins upon them the responsibility of maintaining high standards of professional integrity and ethics.
PSPCL employees wives celebrate Teej
Ludhiana: The wives of engineers of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) celebrated Teej in a function organised by Oorja Nigam Women club. Santosh Sharma,wife of Chief Engineer K N Sharma was busy trying to make the programme perfect in all manner while women members were seen dressed in salwar kameej with traditional hair do and jewellery as well. Interestingly,many youngsters were seen learning how to tap their feet to the beats of Punjabi numbers. Such programmes help the youngsters learn about their rich cultural heritage, said Santosh Sharma. Neelam Chaudhary,wife of PSPCL Chairman K D Chaudhary was the chief guest for this function.
