CIPHET conducts training for prisoners

Prisoners in Ludhiana Central Jail today learned the process of making puree from tomatoes through a training programme conducted by the Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET) in the jail premises. CIPHET has begun a series of training programmes for prisoners/inmates from the month of January.

Dr H.S Oberoi,Senior Scientist at CIPHET,explained complete process of making tomato puree to the prisoners through practical demonstration on machinery taken from the institute to the jail. He told them that from 100 kg of tomatoes,around 40 kg of puree could be used as a substitute to tomato in various food preparations.
