Changed lifestyle has made women more prone to thyroid ailment

Out of 10 thyroid patients,nine are women.Thyroid problem has started surfacing in children as well. Recently a child was born with hypo-thyroid problem while an eight-year old child also tested positive for thyroid,said Dr Bandish Ambani,a Mumbai-based homeopathy and a thyroid expert,on his visit to the city.

Dr Ambani said,About 10 years ago,only 3% population suffered from thyroid,which has now increased to 20%. Women are more prone because they are more emotional and moreover busy lifestyle of working women,food habits too contribute a lot. He added,Working women are the main target and the age group with maximum cases starts from 18 onwards.

Apart from Dr Ambani,Dr Helio Gonasalves from Brazil also visited Homeocare – a homeopathic clinic based in Model Town extension. Dr Gonasalves said,India so far is the most popular in homeopathy. Brazil has also given recognition to this pathy but we do three-year course after MD. Still,it is gaining popularity and we keep on coming to India under exchange programmes to update our knowledge on homeopathy.

Dr Ambani said that India was having the largest number of medical colleges above 500 and over 5 lakh practicing homeopaths which made this pathy here most popular in the world.

Dr Gonasalves said,In Brazil,there are about 15,000 homeopaths only at the moment.

The doctors claimed that homeopathy was getting popular and it had remedies of chronic diseases which were not found in other systems of medicines.
