13-year-old needs monetary help Ludhiana: A 13-years-old boy,Monu,is suffering from acute febrile illness with jaundice and decreased urine output. He is under treatment at ICU of the Christian Medical College and Hospital. According to the press release,he was found to be malaria vivax positive with complications of renal failure,hepatic failure and respiratory failure. He underwent regular haemodialysis and received packed cells transfusions and platelets transfusions. He needs regular haemodialysis,blood transfusion and proper dietary management. Monus father is a rikshawpuller and mother is a housewife. He has two elder brothers who are doing manual labor. He needs at least Rs 2 lakh for his treatment. SAD (Delhi) seeks public apology from Makkar Ludhiana: SHIROMANI Akali Dal (Delhi) has sought a public apology from SGPC President Avtar Singh Makkar and Director of DD Punjabi. B S Baliawal,Punjab President of SAD (Delhi) talking to mediapersons said that last week SGPC president was giving a speech in a kirtan darbar organised at Rishi Nagar which was being telecast live by DD Punjabi. At the event,Makkar was doing election campaign for the forthcoming SGPC elections and even ridiculed the rousing welcome given to the Queens Baton by Rakabganj Gurdwara in New Delhi. This was totally against the spirit of Commonwealth Games and principles of DD Punjabi of which the government is also a part. NSS volunteers observe non-violence day Ludhiana: The NSS volunteers from three constituent colleges of PAU namely College of Agriculture,College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology and College of Home Science observed International Non-violence Day on Monday. The theme of the programme was From non-violence to humanity on which theme slogan writing,poetry composition,poster making and essay writing activities were held. Akalis misleading people about development Ludhiana: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee Secretary and the PCC delegate from Ludhiana South,Bhupinder Sidhu,today accused the Akali-BJP government in the state of misleading people in the name of development. He said the government was only making false promises with the people which it knew it was never going to fulfil. Reacting to the claims of Rs 15-crore grant for development,Sidhu said this will ultimately prove to be another typical false promise of this government like that made by Sukhbir Singh Badal earlier about bringing metro train to Ludhiana or turning Ludhiana into Paris. The PCC secretary pointed out,Ludhiana South remains the most backward area in the city where people do not have the basic amenities of life. ETT teachers to meet Akal Takht jathedar Ludhiana: Balraj Ghaloti,Senior Vice-President of ETT Adhyapak Union in Punjab said the state government had not been paying any heed to their demands. He said the union had decided to approach the Akal Takhat Sahib on October 10 and request the jathedar to intervene in the matter.
