Bread becomes dearer

Reacting to the decision of the Food Corporation of India to sell wheat at Rs 1,407 a quintal against the MSP of Rs 1,080 a quintal to private flour millers,bread manufacturers have decided to increase the price of bread.

Reacting to the decision of the Food Corporation of India to sell wheat at Rs 1,407 a quintal against the MSP of Rs 1,080 a quintal to private flour millers,bread manufacturers have decided to increase the price of bread. The hike will be effective from tomorrow wherein the 800 gram bread priced at Rs 20 will cost Rs 22 while the 400 gram bread priced at Rs 14 will now be priced at Rs 15.

Wheat bread,which is priced at Rs 15 will become dearer by Re 1.

Ramesh Maggo,owner of Kitty Breads and also the Vice-president of the All-India Bread Manufacturers’ Association,said,“Initially,we had hiked the price of 800 gram packing but in the coming week we may hike the prices of all other packings as well.”

He said,“After the FCI decided to sell flour at a higher price,the price of maida has been increased from Rs 12 a kg to Rs 18 a kg. Hence,we are left with no choice but to hike the prices of bread.”

Apart from bread,even prices of all other products like- pizza slices,patties,burger buns,cakes will also become dearer.
