Ludhiana Member of Parliament and national spokesperson of the Congress,Manish Tewari today said there should be no politics about the attack on Tehsildar,Maj G.S. Benipal. But at the same time,he asked the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to take things in control as the state was heading towards anarchy.

Talking to the mediapersons outside Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMC&H) after meeting the injured tehsildar,Tewari pointed out,“It was quite shameful and tragic that a senior officer with magisterial powers should meet such a fate. We can well imagine what would be the plight of the common man.” The government has done nothing to salvage the hurt feelings of the officer,he observed.

He said even if the main accused were arrested or expelled from the party,it was “too little and too late”. He pointed out these were the same people who had attacked his elderly mother during the campaigning. Even at that time the accused had went scot-free,he said. “They are meeting their own nemesis”,he remarked.

The first thing,Tewari said, this government needs to do is to restore the trust of the people. “Even the minister is threatened in his own house and no action is taken”,he pointed out, while adding,“We are not concerned much about that, but we want that the common man to feel secure”.

Tewari hoped that the law would take its own course and there would be no interference in the investigations.
