OBC opens rural branch at Dewatwal village
Ludhiana: H Rathnakara Hegde,executive director of the Oriental Bank of Commerce visited Ludhiana on Thursday and inaugurated the rural branch of the bank at Dewatwal village. General manager A K Tangri was also present on the occasion. Hegde said the bank has a network of 54 branches,two extension counters and 27 ATMs in Ludhiana. Regional head N K Chauhan welcomed the guests. Hegde also presided over the business development meeting of branch managers in Ludhiana.
KCW bags five positions in MA Fine Arts
Ludhiana: Students of the Khalsa College for Women bagged five positions in the MA-I,Fine Arts result,declared by the Panjab University on Thursday. Mandeep Kaur topped the university with 356 marks out of 400. Second position was bagged by Nidhi Jain with 351 marks. Nisha Gupta scored third position with 349 marks,while Namita of the same college succeeded in bagging IV position with 345 marks. Pawanjeet Kaur got VIIIth position in the university. Pritpal Singh Grewal,president of the College Managing Committee and vice-president Dr S S Grewal appreciated the efforts of students and staff members and congratulated them.
Ludhiana: Eminent trainer and director of the Tuff Track International from Shanti Niketan,Asit Ghosh,addressed teachers at a Faculty Development Programme,sponsored by the Punjab Technical University,Jalandhar,at Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology on Thursday. The workshop was titled,A tryst with learning (ATWL). Ghosh said,You,as a teacher,must emphasise upon personal effectiveness,rapport,trust and confidence. He told the audience about how to increase overall goodwill and image building. He also discussed the importance of interpersonal relationship and team work. Ghosh emphasised on facilitating the learning process and presentations. The sessions were highly interactive and reflective in nature. Speaking on the occasion,Dr (Col ) H S Singha,director of the institute,said,The event has enlightened us about discovering certain innate secrets that can bring enormous fulfillment to our life and work.
Handwriting competition held
Ludhiana: A handwriting competition was held at Everest Public Senior Secondary School,Moti Nagar. School principal Asha Sharma distributed prizes among students and praised them for their artistic skills.
Free dental camp organised
LUDHIANA: Baba Jaswant Singh Dental College and Hospital organised a free dental check up and awareness camp at DCM Presidency School,Jamalpur Colony,Chandigarh Road,on Thursday. Nearly 500 students availed of the benefits of dental check up extended to them by a team of senior dental surgeons led by Dr Pawan Arora and Dr Ashish Kumar. Earlier,a dental awareness talk was organised to educate children about common dental ailments like tooth decay and gum diseases.
