Administration ready for SGPC polls

The district administration is ready with all arrangements for the Shiromani Gurudwara Parbhandhak Committee polls scheduled to be held on September 18.

The district administration is ready with all arrangements for the Shiromani Gurudwara Parbhandhak Committee (SGPC) polls scheduled to be held on September 18.

About 6.75 lakh voters have been identified for the elections and the candidates will be contesting for eighteen seats in thirteen constituencies,said the Deputy Commissioner Rahul Tiwari.

He also said that a control room has been set up with phone number 2431430. August 16 is the last and final date of scrutinisation of nomination papers while candidates can take papers back till August 26,ten days later.

Today was the first day to file the nomination papers,but no one turned up today. They can file nominations till August 11.

A total of 923 booths have been set up by administration to conduct votes,said the DC.

The nomination papers will be taken in the offices of following returning officers:-

l Khanna: SDM Inderjit Kang.

l Payal: SDM Neeru Katyal Gupta

l Doraha: Harbir Singh AETC-1

l Pakhowal: Mahinder Singh Grewal.

l Riakot: SDM Baldev Singh.

l Jagraon: Tehsildaar Jagraon will take nomination papers in SDM Jagraons office.

l Sidhwan Bet: Deputy Director local bodies-Davinder Singh.

l Mullanpur: Tehsildaar West.

l Ludhian South: AETC Jaskaran Singh Brar.
