Wushu player commits suicide

A 21-year-old wushu player allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the Gomti river from the barrage in Gomti Nagar police station area,around 8 pm on Tuesday.

A 21-year-old wushu player allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the Gomti river from the barrage in Gomti Nagar police station area,around 8 pm on Tuesday.

The player has been identified as Sunny Dhanuk,a resident of Teli Bagh. The player’s body has not been recovered yet,said Anand Kulkarni,CO Gomti Nagar.

Before jumping into the river,Dhanuk had called up his brother-in-law and told him to take his bike and bag from Gomti Barrage,said Kulkarni. The motive for suicide is not yet ascertained,added Kulkarni. His bike and bag were found near the barrage,said AD Dwivedi,SO Gomti Nagar.

Dhanuk,a permanent resident of Faizabad district,was a national-level wushu player. He had won a gold medal at the junior national level and had also participated in the National Games in Ranchi,informed his former coach Parvesh Rawat.
