Woman shot dead in moving bus in Meerut district

A former student of Meerut College was shot dead in a moving bus in the Nauchandi area of Meerut district on Monday.

A former student of Meerut College was shot dead in a moving bus in the Nauchandi area of Meerut district on Monday. Shama Khan,a native of Gulawati area in Bulandshahr,was shot at from point blank range by a youth,whom her mother has identified as one Amit,Shama’s batchmate in Meerut College.

“Shama’s mother,Gulzar,has identified the assailant as Amit. The family claims that Amit visited their house and they visited his place,in Jaani area of Meerut city,several times recently to discuss Shama’s brother’s admission. But,they said they did not know the motive behind the murder,” said Meerut DIG M K Bashal.

SP (City) Prabal Pratap Singh said the deceased had visited the college along with her mother. After leaving the college premises,the mother-daughter duo boarded a bus from the Sohrabgate bus station. The victim’s mother told police that when the bus left the station around 12.45 pm,Amit came on board and darted straight to Shama. He whispered something,caught Shama by the shoulder and when she resisted,he whipped out a pistol and shot her point blank,the mother told police.

Shama received a bullet shot on her temple and died on the spot,while assailant managed to flee.
