A woman set three of her children on fire before immolating herself in Holagarh area of Allahabad district.

A woman set three of her children on fire before immolating herself in Holagarh area of Allahabad district on Friday.

She had reportedly had an argument with her husband earlier in the day. Additional SP (Trans-Ganga) Jai Prakash said the neighbours alerted the police after they spotted smoke billowing from Harishchandra Singhs house at Pachpedwa village around 3 pm.

The police broke into the house and found the bodies of Geeta (28) and the three children Shivani (4),Kishan (2) and Surya (six months) inside.

Allahabad DIG Ram Kumar said the neighbours told police about an altercation between the couple,after which Singh left for the market around 1 pm.

The ASP said the woman was alone in the house with her children at the time of the incident. Singhs parents stay separately in the same village.
