UP’s Manu in Indian b’minton team for World Junior C’ships

Manu Attri,a trainee of UP Badminton Academy hailing from Meerut,has been selected to represent the Indian junior badminton team which will be taking part in the World Junior Championships to be held at Mexico from April 16 to 25.

According to Dr Vijai Sinha,joint secretary,Badminton Association of India,Devendra Kaushal who is SAI coach posted at UP Badminton Academy,has been nominated as coach of Indian Junior Badminton Team. A coaching camp of the team for the above tourney is being held at P Gopichand Badminton Academy,Hyderabad from April 1 to 15. The team:-Sai Praneeth (Andhra Pradesh),HS Prannoy (Kerala),Pranav Chopra (Air India),Manu Attri (Uttar Pradesh),N Sikki Reddy (Andhra Pradesh),PV Sindhu (Andhra Pradesh),Prajakta Sawant (Maharashtra),Gauri Ghate (Maharashtra); Coaches: Devendra Kaushal (SAI coach,Lucknow),Hadi Idris (Foreign Coach).

Pool opens
The pool of KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium,Lucknow opened on Thursday for the training of boys/ girls swimmers. As per information received from Regional Sports Office,Lucknow,those interested in getting training in the sport may obtain forms for the same from the office on a working day between 11.00 am to 2.00 pm.

Chess team
The following players will be representing the Lucknow district team in the state chess championship to be held at Varanasi from April 1 to 4. The Team: Under-14 age group: Boys: Akash,Vibhu Bajpai,Vasu Bajpai; Girls: Anvita,Shreya; Under-11 age group: Boys: Ayush Pandey,Swastik; Girls: Adarshika,Shruti.

U-14 cricket
The LCA Under-14 Cricket Trophy 2010 will be organised by the Lucknow Cricket Academy at Lucknow from March 3 to 6.
