An assistant engineer (AE) of state PWD,who is involved with Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) projects for Sultanpur and Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Nagar districts,has got a case registered against two contractors for issuing life threats to him.
Amar Singh has alleged that two contractors Imran and Wajid entered his office on December 21 and pointed a revolver at him. The contractors allegedly threatened him with dire consequences in case he failed to clear the bills without delay.
The district president of Sultanpur Engineers Association,Kuldip Srivastava,said a Ghazipur-based construction company,which had been awarded the contract to lay a road under PMGSY project,outsourced a part of the work to Imran and Wajid in Jagdishpur area of Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Nagar district. The contractors have been threatening the engineer to ignore the norms and pass the bills,said Srivastava.
The SP of Sultanpur,Govind Agrawal,said a case was registered against the contractors on December 24 after the engineer lodged a complaint. The duo,charged under various sections of the IPC that include criminal intimidation and preventing a government employee from discharging his duty,is yet to be arrested.
