Three get 4yr-RI for assaulting Dalits

Gonda:A local court has awarded life sentence to five persons,including the husband and father-in-law of the victim,in a two-year-old murder case. Additional Sessions Judge Surendra Prasad Yadav held Sadhna Singh’s husband,Ashok,father-in-law Indra Bahadur,and one Shiv Kumar Shukla guilty on Friday of hatching a conspiracy to kill her. Two others,Ram Shankar and Vinod, were also handed life term,sources said. It was found that Sadhna’s in-laws were not happy with her as she had borne two daughters,and wanted to remarry their son.

Tension in Hajiyapur,8 held

Bareilly:Tension prevailed in Hajiyapur area of the district after two groups clashed over the playing of loudspeakers during Janmashtami celebrations. A group had raised objection to songs being played on loudspeakers and dancing near a slaughter house in Ambedkarnagar locality. A heated debate and heavy brick-batting followed,which was brought under control after the police intervened. Eight people have been arrested and 25 booked,District Magistrate Abhishek Kumar said.
