Tevatia shifted to high security barrack

Manveer Singh Tevatia,lodged in Dasna jail,has been shifted to a hi-tech security barrack and no visitor is allowed to meet the farmer leader whose fast-unto-death entered the second day on Monday.

Dasna Jail Superintendent Viresh Raj Sharma said even Tevatia’s family members will not be allowed to meet him during his fast,which is not allowed as per the jail manual.

Tevatia is on fast accusing the authorities of registering false cases against him and has demanded withdrawal of all such cases against him and other farmer leaders and immediate halt to land acquisition in the state. He also wants that the acquired land should be returned to the farmers. Sharma said only the district magistrate,jail superintendent and jail doctor and their representatives can meet him.

Five youths feared drowned in Gomti

Lucknow: Five youths were feared to have drowned in Gomti river in Mal police station area of Lucknow on Monday. Police have recovered body of one of the youths. The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Ramesh who runs a grocery shop in Madiaon area. Other youths who are still missing are friends of the deceased. They are Amar (18),Rajan (22),Sourabh (22) and Aksand Dalmiya (22),all residents of Madiaon area. Two vehicles and clothes of the boys have been recovered. According to police,the boys had gone to visit Chandrika Devi temple. Later,they went to nearby village Manjhi to take a bath in Gomti river.
