A senior executive of a Noida-based call centre has been arrested for allegedly killing a woman employee who worked in his team.
The accused has been identified as Daljeet Singh,who worked as team leader at the BPO Sparsh Intelenet. He was arrested on Wednesday night.
According to the police,victim Pooja Bhatia,23,had drowned in Badhkal Lake,Faridabad. She lived in Noidas Sector-22.
While Faridabad police had found the body from the lake on March 2,they cremated it since her identity could not be established. Bhatias family members later identified her from her clothes,the police said.
According to the FIR lodged by Bhatias sister at Noida Sector-24 police station,the 23-year-old had gone out with friends on Holi (March 1) but after she failed to return late into the night,the family approached the police. They informed the police that Bhatia often spoke with her team leader,Daljeet Singh.
Superintendent of Police (City) Ashok Tripathi said the police did not get any lead after interrogating her colleagues at the call centre.
We studied call details of Pooja Bhatias cellphone and traced location of her last call to Surajkund (Haryana), SP Tripathi said. Daljeet Singh was a resident of Green Fields,Faridabad,and his phones location was also found in the same area on March 1 (Holi).
Singh broke down during interrogation and told the police that Bhatia had drowned in Badkhal Lake in front of him,according to Tripathi.
Gautam Budh Nagar SSP Ashok K Singh said Singh initially said he did not know anything about her whereabouts but later admitted that she had died in front of him.
A Noida police team contacted Faridabad police and the latter identified the woman after they were showed Bher photograph.
A case of murder has been registered against Singh. The police are still not clear about the murder motive.
