A man killed his wife at his Ramnagar home on Monday night suspecting that she had an affair with two men.

Mahesh Mishra, who works at a medicine shop, tried to concoct a story and told the police that unidentified robbers entered his house and injured his wife Sangeeta Mishra (30),when he and his two minor sons had gone to attend a wedding. When he returned home in the morning he found Sangeeta lying unconscious in the bedroom.

The police, however, came to know that Mahesh had returned late night and his tenant Manoj had opened the door. When pressed,Mahesh confessed to the crime and said he suspected Sangeeta had been having an affair with two persons who used to visit their house in his absence.

On Monday late night, while returning from the wedding,Mahesh dropped his sons Himanshu and Shivanshu at his mother’s residence. After reaching home,Mahesh found his wife talking on the cellphone and further grew suspicious.

The two had a heated argument, following which Mahesh picked up an iron rod and hit Sangeeta on the head, leaving her unconscious. He then went back to the wedding and returned home in the morning, said Sahadatgaj police station in-charge Parush Ram Verma.
