Student shot at outside IIIT

An M Tech student of the Indian Institute of Information Technology (Allahabad) was shot at by unidentified persons outside the institute gate at Jhalwa here on Thursday.

While there were reports the student was shot at after he refused to give away his mobile phone,the police said it was still trying to ascertain the sequence of events.

According to IIITA spokesperson,M Tech student Pawan Reddy had walked outside the main gate around 9.30 pm. when two unidentified persons on a bike came there and opened fire at him. He has been shifted to Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital. The sequence of the events is still sketchy, said the spokesperson. The students condition is under observation.

A couple of persons came there and fired at the student. He sustained one gunshot injury. We are still trying to ascertain the sequence of events, said Station Officer Dhoomanganj,Satyendra Tiwari.
