LUCKNOW: Three persons have been arrested in the murder case of BSP leader and former MLA Sarvesh Singh and his acquaintance,Bharat Rai,who were shot by assailants at Jiyanpur in Azamgarh on July 19. Those arrested are Vijay Yadav alias Sachin,Dinesh Singh alias Rampat and Abhishek Singh alias Bhonu,all of Azamgarh. The police said Dinesh is a sharp shooter while Vijay and Abhishek were involved in the conspiracy of murder. Assistant SP K K Chowdhary said Vijay had given information to assailants about Sarvesh’s movement while Abhishek purchased SIM card and cellphone for the assailants that were used in the crime. Six persons,including Singh’s rival Dhruv Singh alias Kuntu Singh,lodged in jail,were named in the FIR. The other five are Vijay Singh,Sangram Singh,Rizwan,Rajendra Yadav and Prakash Yadav.

3 held for beating up two cops

LUCKNOW: Three persons have been arrested for allegedly beating up a sub-inspector and a constable in Hazratganj police station area late Friday. Amir Ali,a resident of Cantonment area,Saif Khan and Saud Khan,both residents of Khandari Bazar area,allegedly beat up the policemen when the latter stopped them from creating a ruckus at a liquor shop near Parivartan Chow. Another group of policemen reached there and caught the three accused. Their car was also seized.

Lucknow police spokesperson Alok Pathak said the three have been sent to jail Saturday.

Naxalite arrested in Chopan

LUCKNOW: Sonbhadra police Saturday arrested 28-year-old Vijay Yadav alias Roshan Ansari,a Naxalite from Chopan area. Ansari is a member of Naxal group led by Rambali Kharwar,active in Bihar. A carbine and cartridges were seized from him.
