Ghazipur jail inmates taken ill
Three undertrials of the Ghazipur District Jail fell unconscious on Monday evening after reportedly consuming poisonous substance on the jail premises. Ram Bachan Yadav,Waseem Ahmed and Raj Kumar was rushed to the district hospital. Bachan and Kumar were lodged in jail on murder charges,while Waseem was facing trial in a theft case.

Kashyap resigns from Council
BSP leader Narendra Kumar Kashyap has resigned from the state Legislative Council following his election to the Rajya Sabha.

Firozabad: Three teenagers drowned while taking a bath in the Bhula canal on Monday. The bodies of Shahrukh,Farookh and Ravidra have been fished out from the canal.

Mayawati meets party leaders from four states
Chief Minister Mayawati held a meeting with her party functionaries of four states — Bihar,Orissa,Jharkhand and West Bengal – in Lucknow on Monday. The CM reviewed the party’s preparation for contesting the coming Assembly polls in Bihar and West Bengal. The CM also asked the BSP’s Jharkhand unit to get ready for Assembly polls in view of the President’ Rule. She directed the party’s Orissa unit to focus on the expansion of the party base.

Mathura jail break: Probe ordered
A day after four undertrails escaped from the Mathura district jail,District Bar President Alok Singh has hinted at the involvement of jail staff in the incident. “The manner in which such a serious incident was carried out points towards the connivance of jail staff. While the undertrials fled around 5:30 pm,the administration was informed of the same around 8 pm,” he said.
