BSP Thursday accused the Samajwadi Party of trying to fool the Other Backward Classes by promising to get some of the Backward Castes included in the list of Scheduled Castes. In February this year,the SP government had sent a resolution to the Centre seeking inclusion of seventeen Backward Castes into the list of SCs. These castes are Kahar,Kashyap,Kewat,Machhua,Mallah,Kewat,Nishad,Kumhar,Prajapati,Dhivar,Bind,Bhar,Rajbhar,Biyar,Batham,Gond and Tairaha. In a statement on Thursday,the BSP alleged that a large number of backward castes are angry at the SP government for its casteist approach,so the SP is trying to divert their attention by promising them inclusion in SC list,while doing so is not in the jurisdiction of the state government. It claimed BSP,on the other hand,is continuing the fight inside and outside Parliament for inclusion of socially and economically backward castes into SC list for which BSP chief Mayawati had sent a letter to Prime Minister in 2008. These castes are Kahar or Kashyap,Kevat or Mallah or Nishad,Kumhar or Prajapati,Dhivar,Bind,Bhar or Rajbhar,Dhimar,Batham,Turha,Gond,Manjhi,Machhua,Lonia,Nonia,Lonia-Chauhan,and Dhankar. The BSP claimed earlier the SP government tried to fool these castes by declaring them as SCs through a notification which was later declared illegal by high court,and it created issues for them in getting the benefits of reservation.
