Lucknow kids are in for a cinematic treat. Beginning Tuesday,they will not just get a chance to watch movies like The Magic Tree,Lost and Found,and Wishful Thinking but also get to meet a galaxy of stars like Farooq Shaikh,Amol Palekar and Darsheel Safary.
As many as 150 films previewed and selected out of 223 films invited from 38 countries would be screened especially for children, says Dr Jagdish Gandhi,CMS founder and the man behind bringing the International Childrens Film Festival to Lucknow.
This would be the second edition,the first being held last year. Though first edition was a roaring success,we have plan a bigger event this year, says Gandhi adding that films would be screened at four multiplexes and an auditorium of the school at Kanpur Road branch.
Besides quality of movies to be screened,the highlight of the event would be the participation of school children of not just missionary schools but also from public,private and government schools.
The audience would also include the differently-abled children, says Gandhi claiming that special arrangments have been made for them.
Cinema is a potent medium of mass communication that leaves an indelible impact on everyone’s mind, says Gandhi stressing such cinema message of value-based education can be beautifully conveyed to children.
Ask him the film he is looking forward to watch. Its Azhagu,a six-minute Tamil short film on organ donation, he says inviting one and all to be a part of the festival that promises entertainment more usefull than the IPL.
The Magic Tree by Andrzej Malaszka from Poland would be the opening movie to be screened at main auditorium at 8.30 am.
Titled The ICFF-2010 the festival is being organized by City Montessori School Films and Radio Division.
