Sanction electrification projects for UP,Maya writes to Manmohan

In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh,Chief Minister Mayawati has requested him to sanction all projects under the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Schemes for the state.

She pleaded that the state government is unlikely to achieve its Mission 2012 to make power supply available to every house,without the completion of electrification projects of various villages.

The CM,in her letter,has said that besides Rae Bareli and Sultanpur,other districts in the state are yet to see completion of the electrification project.

It would lead to discontent among people in other districts, wrote the Chief Minister,while referring to the alleged priority given to both the districts Rae Bareli and Sultanpur by the Union Power Ministry in matters of electrification projects.

Interestingly,UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi represents the Rae Bareli parliamentary seat while AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhis parliamentary constituency,Amethi,falls under the jurisdiction of the Sultanpur district.

She has requested the PM to personally examine the matter and direct the Union Power Ministry to sanction all projects for UP under the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Schemes.
