A Day after Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan wrote to his counterpart Mayawati, requesting a CBI probe into the mysterious death of Bhopal Development Authority CEO Madan Gopal Rusiya, the state government recommended a CBI probe in the case on Sunday.
Chief Minister Mayawati has directed the Home department to recommend a CBI probe into Rusiyas death on Chauhans request, said an official spokesperson.
Rusiya was found dead on a railway track,30 km from Agra, when he was on his way back to Bhopal along with Jitendra Daga, the BJP legislator from Huzur. The duo had gone to New Delhi to meet a Supreme Court lawyer in connection with land acquisition proceedings of the Authoritys proposed development scheme, which includes a large chunk of land owned by Daga and his family. A close aide of BJP leader Sushma Swaraj, the MLA wanted to save as much land as possible.
The two had taken a flight to New Delhi on September 10 and were supposed to fly back, when they suddenly opted for an overnight train.
Rusiya was missing when the train reached Bhopal the next morning, though his shoes and luggage were lying in the compartment.
Daga went home before he was called back to give his statement to the railway police a few hours later. Rusiyas body was found late on September 11. The postmortem report attributed the death to injuries caused by falling.
Rusiyas family members, however, were not convinced. Pointing the finger of suspicion at Daga, they said the death was not accidental and demanded a CBI inquiry.
