Chief Minister Mayawati criticised government officials, particularly the district magistrates, for their failure to ensure proper implementation of pro-poor schemes in their areas.

Chief Minister Mayawati criticised government officials, particularly the district magistrates, for their failure to ensure proper implementation of pro-poor schemes in their areas.

In a review meet held on development projects and the law and order situation on Wednesday,Mayawati asked officials to ensure corruption-free administration and establish direct communication with the people. She directed police officers, including the SSPs,to keep a close eye on the law and order situation in view of the upcoming festivals and Panchayat elections.

Senior government officials like divisional commissioners,DMs,IGs,DIGs and SSPs,along with the DGP,principal secretaries and secretaries of all departments, participated in the meet.

“She had done her homework before addressing the meeting. She asked the DMs to ensure corruption-free administration at their levels,” said a source who attended the meet.

According to the new directives, the DM and SSPs of all districts will attend the monthly meeting held on the 10th of every month. Earlier, the monthly meet was attended by divisional commissioners only.

Mayawati has also directed the DMs and SSPs to hold at least three meetings in their districts after their return from Lucknow. “While we will first hold a meeting with our officers, the second one will be with the public. During the third meeting, feedback regarding development projects will be collected,” said a source.

He added that Mayawati wants her officials to identify sensitive points.
