Over six months after 35,844 recruits were selected for the post of constables through the Transparent Recruitment Procedure approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs,the recruits are still awaiting the call for training.
The names of new recruits were announced on May 17.
The Uttar Pradesh Police Training Directorate,which has to train the biggest-ever batch in the nine-month schedule,now says the training will begin from December.
The Director General (DG) of the Directorate,Babu Lal Yadav,said: We are far behind the schedule. The training would have started a month ago,but it is being delayed on account of the Police Housing Board.
The Board,he said,has been given a fund of Rs 48 crore for construction of classrooms,barracks and washrooms in 65 districts and renovation at a few police training centres in two phases. The deadline for the first phase of construction was August 15 and the second November 15.
Now,the Board says it will finish the pending work by November 30,he said.
The government has sanctioned Rs 100 crore for the police training and Rs 48 crore given to the Housing Board was part of the fund.
To accommodate such a huge number of recruits,the directorate has established Regional Training Centres in the Reserve Police Lines of 65 districts,where the Superintendents of Police have been made supervising officers,the DG said.
The Police Establishment Department has been asked to allott the recruits to various districts depending on requirement.
The directorate,he said,will try to conduct training of the recruits at their allotted districts. The rest will be trained at the eight Police Training Schools and 30 of the PAC battalions. The 5,362 women recruits will be accommodated at Sitapur and Shahjahanpur training centres and the Moradabad police academy.
We have got 50 Deputy SPs and 392 sub-inspectors trained recently at the Police Training Academy in Moradabad who will impart training to the recruits, Yadav said. Besides,we have arranged for guest teachers for various classroom training programme including computers. Arrangements have been made for physical instructors for field training.
The purchasing of multimedia projectors is also in process.
