One dead in Agra clash

Tension prevailed in Agra district’s Mantola area on Thursday after two groups clashed,leading to the death of a youth.

Tension prevailed in Agra district’s Mantola area on Thursday after two groups clashed,leading to the death of a youth. Angry locals set on fire the residence of one of the assailants. The deceased has been identified as Kalu. Sub-Inspector Mohammad Aqil Qazi and PAC Constable Suresh Chandra sustained burns while trying to disperse the locals who had indulged in arson. Agra Range IG Vijay Kumar said the incident occurred when two groups,led by Kalu and Bhola — both from the Teela Nandram locality — were allegedly having alcohol. Kalu threw a soft drink bottle which fell and broke near Bhola. This led to an altercation. Bhola fired with a countrymade firearm and the bullet hit Kalu in his chest. He was rushed to a hospital,where he was declared dead on arrival. Following this,locals attacked the residence of Bhola’s associate Santoshi.

Siblings buried alive
Four siblings were buried alive after a thatched house collapsed following heavy rains in City Kotwali area of Fatehgarh district on Thursday. The residence of Anil Saxena,a labourer,collapsed around 3 am. While his children — Sangeeta (10),Gopal (8),Reeta (6) and Chhotu (6) — died,his wife Rani suffered serious injuries.
