Educationist’s take on life’s crucial choices
Not just looking at the happy pictures of the campus,or at the hi-tech names of courses offered eitherand certainly NOT at the freebies like laptops or holiday trips to exotic localesaspiring managers and their guardians must decide on the college by checking out the credentials of the founders too.
The advice comes from educationist Virender Kapoor, author of books on personality development, who launched one of his books in Lucknow. He was here to take part in a two-day education fair for promotion of a management institute he runs in Pune.
“What’s passing off in the name of management studies in India is worrisome. There are transporters and sweet house owners acquiring land and accredition and going ahead with founding colleges,” he rues. Speaking about his book titled Your Personal Guide to Victory (published by UBS),he said it was a handbook for those seeking direction on how to conduct their professional lives.
“The unique part is that it is personalised to the extent of giving advice according to your zodiac signs and individual traits,” said Kapoor.
Another bestseller to his credit is Honeymoon With a Pinch of Salt,a work of fiction that sums up the travails of working couples, weaving the story around characters who are passouts of IIM and IIT and other topgrade institutes.
“There is need to discover the power of self and in that alone lies the way out of mediocrity that has come to be the order of the day. I try to help out people through my books,” he said.
