Murder case of corporator’s husband cracked,3 held

Sushil’s brother Gagan Gaekwad,who,too,was part of the conspiracy,has filed nomination for the post of corporator as an Independent candidate from Malakraj ward,the police said.

This time Malakraj ward has been reserved for Scheduled Castes. A police spokesperson,however,said the notification regarding reserved wards had not been issued when Sushil hatched the conspiracy to kill Mishra.

The three persons who were arrested on Monday are Anil alias Kallu,Rahul Tiwari alias Don and Prakash. The police also recovered firearms and ammunition from them.

During their interrogation,they allegedly confessed to their involvement in the crime. The police said Sushil,who had promised to pay Rs 80,000 to the hired killers,had roped in one Akshay Turia,who,in turn,got the three accused men to do the job.

“All of them are first-timers. Turia had received Rs 20,000 as advance. Sushil had also helped them procure crude bombs and country-made fire-arms that were used in the murder,” said Superintendent of Police (City),Shailesh Kumar Yadav.

According to the police,the plan to eliminate Mishra was hatched at the house of Sushil.

“According to the plan,Sushil surrendered in a case of the Gangster Act registered against him and went to jail a few days before the murder took place. From there,he gave directions to the hired killers. After the killing,Turia,too,surrendered in an Explosives Act case and went to jail on May 23,” said a senior police officer.

On the night of May 18,the accused first hurled a bomb on Mishra and then shot at him a couple of times killing him on the spot near his house in Malakraj locality.
