Rajya Sabha member Amar Singh on Thursday said his party Rashtriya Lok Manch has been registered as a political party by the Election Commission and that it would try to become an alternative to Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav in Uttar Pradesh.
Announcing the names of his 17 party candidates for the 2012 Assembly elections,Singh said: Irrespective of the intense political rivalry between Mulayam and Mayawati, both are united in their efforts to protect the interest of two business houses who control the infrastructure projects and liquor business in the state.
People of the state are fed up with both parties and are in search of a viable alternative, he added.
Asked about a possible alliance with other parties,Singh said he was open to all except BJP and SP. He also announced candidates for 17 seats.
