Mahamaya Technical University (MTU),Noida,has decided to conduct video-recording of the practical examinations in the affiliated colleges from the ongoing academic session. In the introductory phase,video-recording would be done of the second semesters practical examinations scheduled for June.
University authorities said video-recording would improve the quality of practical examinations. It would deter the students from resorting to unfair means as their activities would be recorded and monitored through cameras.
Directives have been issued to all the 387 affiliated colleges to install CCTV cameras in the laboratories of the first-year students, said JP Pandey,Examination Controller,MTU.
Colleges have been directed to send the video-recording of the practical examinations to the university in Compact Discs (CDs) along with the marksheets after the examinations.
It has been witnessed the seriousness of the students towards practical sessions have declined in last few years and that has resulted a decrease in marks in practical examinations. To improve the quality of practical sessions and develop students interest in practicals,video-recording of practical examinations is being started, Pandey said.
Video-recording will make examiners take their job seriously and keep proper watch on the students activities during practical examinations, said another official.
