A Faizabad court today sentenced former BSP MP Mitrasen Yadav to seven years rigorous imprisonment in a case of embezzlement. Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Anil Shukla also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on him.
On Wednesday,Yadav,against whom NBW was issued for not appearing before the court,reached the court with his supporters. He was taken into custody by the police and after pronouncement of the sentence,sent to jail.
Yadav is a Samajwadi Party candidate from the Bikapur constituency in Faizabad for the Assembly election. His lawyer Avadesh Yadav said they would file an appeal in the court of district judge.
The case dates back to 2001 when Hari Om Yadav,a clerk with Kishan Vidhyalay High School at Bankhata,filed an FIR against Mitrasen,who was the then manager of the school,and his son Anandsen Yadav. He alleged that the manager had committed a fraud by not depositing money earned from the field attached with the school.The Faizabad police investigated the case and filed chargesheet against Mitrasen under Section 420 and 409 of the IPC.
Mitrasens son Anandsen,who is a former minister of the Mayawati government,is also in jail.
