A cold storage employee was shot dead by four motorcycle-borne assailants in Maniyar area of Ballia district on Saturday morning. The victims nephew,however,chased the attackers and killed two of the assailants with his licenced revolver. The incident took place around 10.45 am when cold storage manager Tuntun Singh and his uncle Brij Kishore were on way to the storage,which is owned by local BSP MLA Manju Singh. The uncle-nephew duo was attacked by four youths riding on two motorcycles. The assailants shot at Kishore,killing him on the spot. Singh fired at the assailants in retaliation with his licenced revolver and killed one of the youths. As the other three tried to escape,Singh,along with some locals chased them,and shot at another assailant near Rasoolpur village,while the other two managed to flee. The injured youth Kalam who fell from the bike,was lynched by the locals. The Ballia SP Chandra Prakash told The Indian Express that the motive behind the employees murder is yet to be established,however,the clues indicate that an old enmity led to the attack.
