LAST BITE with Sadaa Sayed

It was on my birthday last year. I was quite tied up then as I was shooting for my movies back to back and just wanted to spend the day with my family. Nothing much was planned as I had flown down to Mumbai that day from an outdoor shoot. Although I love homemade food, that day I wanted my mom to be around me,and not supervising the cook or cooking something for me. So we ended up going to China Gate.

The first thing that struck me when we entered this restaurant is how spacious it is.

Though they have the usual trappings of all Chinese restaurants—the usual faux ponds with koi fish swimming, toads spouting water, dragons greeting at the door and Chinese silk paintings dominating a wall— the restaurant is done up extremely stylishly.

Soft lighting lends warmth and comfortable rosewood tables and the chairs are spaced widely enough to offer adequate privacy to each table.

Some of the dishes that we ordered included Coriander Veg soup,Chicken Satay,Garlic Pot Rice,Stir Fried Greens,Lotus Rice and Pot Rice,Chicken in Black Bean Sauce,Wooly Chicken Crispy Spinach and Corn,Waterchestnuts and yummy Chocolate mousse.

The aroma of the food was mind-blowing and just thinking of the food makes my mouth water.

I’m hoping for the same experience and family time this year too for my birthday, and it’s just around the corner.
