The Samajwadi Party sacked Ram Asrey Kushwaha from the post of national general secretary of the party on Tuesday.
The orders of sacking of Kushwaha were issued by SPs national general secretary Ramgopal Yadav on the instructions of party president Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Kushwaha will, however, remain a member of the party. Kushwaha is also chairman of Remote Sensing Application Centre and has been given cabinet minister rank by the government.
Till now, five party leaders have been shown the door by the party after they reportedly bruised Ramgopal Yadavs ego.
Party leaders said Kushwaha faced the axe owing to his regular appearance on TV channels.
The party has authorised only four persons to interact with the media on party affairs, namely SPs national president Mulayam Singh Yadav, state president and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, national general secretary and spokesperson Ramgopal Yadav and state spokesperson Rajendra Choudhary.
Before Kushwaha, four more persons had been stripped of party posts after they lost favour with Ramgopal Yadav. The list includes Amar Singh who was removed before the Assembly elections last year. At the time,he was national general secretary and spokesperson of the party.
Mohan Singh was the next to be stripped of his post as as national spokesperson over his statement on efforts for the entry of western UPs mafia D P Yadav in the party during the Assembly elections.
Shahid Siddiqui was later disowned by Ramgopal Yadav after he interviewed Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his newspaper.
Kamal Faruqui was removed from the post of national secretary over his remarks on suspected Indian Mujahideen operative Yasin Bhatkal.
