Saharanpur police on Saturday rescued a 12-year-old boy,Naveen,who was allegedly kidnapped from near his house at Balumajra village under Bargaon police circle on August 16. The kidnappers allegedly demanded a ransom of Rs 15 lakh.
Naveen,a class VI student,is the son of Balumajra village pradhan Rajveer Singh Kashyap. The police said that acting on tip-off by an informer and surveillance team,they conducted a raid at the house of one Ravi at Pinjaura village. After a brief encounter with the kidnappers,the police finally managed to rescue the boy from the house. The kidnappers,however,managed to escape.
Station Officer of Bargaon Yashpal Singh said five kidnappers have been identified till now and investigation is on to know the involvement of other persons. He added: Raids are on to trace the persons involved in the kidnapping.
Earlier,on Thursday evening Naveen went missing from near his house. When he did not return home,his family members lodged a complaint with the police. Later,the family reportedly received a ransom call after which missing report was changed into kidnapping.
