Karma’s ashes immersed in Sangam

The ashes of Congress leader Mahendra Karma,who was among several other party leaders killed in the brutal attack on their convoy in Chhattisgarh on May 25,were on Saturday immersed in the holy Sangam amid the presence of family and party members.

Deepak Karma,along with his younger brother and other family members,arrived with the ashes in Allahabad on Friday. He told mediapersons after the immersion that the family was not going to be frightened by the threats being issued by the naxals,even after the attack. He also did not rule out the possibility of an insider giving inputs to the naxals about the movement of the convoy,leading to the brutal attack.

Deepak,who is the eldest son of Karma,blamed the state government for not being able to provide proper security. Karma’s ashes were immersed in the Sangam around 8 am. City Congress Chief Shyam Krishna Pandey,MLA Anugraha Narayan Singh,party spokesperson Kishore Varshneya and other local leaders were present too.
