Principal held for molestation attempt

Lucknow: A school principal was on Tuesday arrested for allegedly attempting to outrage the modesty of one of his students in Jalaun district. According to a complaint filed by father of the girl,principal of SBS school Ram Lal Vishwakarma in Orai area tried to molest his daughter,Special Director General of Police Brij Lal told reporters here. A case under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of IPC was registered and Vishwakarma was arrested.

Ghagra breach: 5 engineers suspended

LUCKNOW: The state government has suspended five engineers,including chief engineer D N Singh,after a breach in the embankment along Ghagra near Charsari village in Barabanki district led to flooding. Singh was posted at Saryu Project-1 Faizabad. Other four engineers were also from Irrigation Department. They are Superintendent Engineer Devaki Nandan,Executive Engineer AK Rai,Assistant Engineer Kailash Nath Mishra and Junior Engineer O P Upadhyay. They were posted at flood division in Gonda. According to press-release issued by the Information and Public Relations Department,the engineers were suspended on the charges of negligence in construction of the embankment,negligence in flood control work and insensitive to the protection of the embankment.

Rs 14 lakh looted from bank staff

LUCKNOW: Two motorcycle-borne men looted Rs 14.20 lakh from Punjab National Bank employees in Indira Nagar under Ghazipur police station on Tuesday. The incident took place around 2.40 pm when Radhe Shyam Katiyar,the bank’s deputy manager,and VK Sinha,head cashier,along with Ramesh Yadav,an employee,were carrying the money to a van outside the branch. The van was to carry the money to an ATM. “Prima facie,the incident seems to have happened because of the negligence of bank officials,” said Anand Kulkarni,Circle Officer of Gomti Nagar.
