SP leader shot deadA Samajwadi Party leader was shot dead and his associate injured by unidentified persons late on Wednesday night. Raj Kumar Yadav alias Raju (40) and his associate Sushil Upadhyaya were shot at by unidentified motorcycle-borne persons near Gambhirpir. The duo was rushed to the hospital,where doctors declared Raju dead on arrival,said police. Former IAS officer new varsity V-CLucknow: The state government appointed former IAS officer Anees Ansari as the interim vice-chancellor of the proposed UP Urdu,Arabic and Persian University for three years on Thursday. Ansari is a former agriculture production commissioner. He was suspended after his wife Asma Hussain,a fashion designer,hosted a show at their official residence in 2008. The government has selected the site for the university on the Lucknow-Hardoi Road where a five-storey building is planned at a cost of Rs 181 crore.
