Cong celebrates Sonia’s birthday as ‘Sankalp Divas’

The state Congress celebrated the 64th birthday of party president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday by distributing blankets to around 250 women.

As the party high command had instructed the workers to keep the function a simple one in view of Tuesday’s Varanasi blast,the Mahila Congress celebrated the day by distributing blankets and called it a “sankalp divas”. On the other hand,the Youth Congress marked the day as “women empowerment day” by felicitating girls and women,who had contributed significantly in several fields.

SBI contributes Rs 2 cr to CM’s fund

The SBI contributed Rs 2 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund on Thursday. A cheque in this regard was handed over by SBI Chief General Manager (Lucknow division) B V Chaubal to Chief Secretary Atul Gupta in Lucknow. Chaubal said the recent floods in UP had caused widespread devastation and damage to life and property. To assist the government in its relief effort,the SBI contributed Rs 2 crore,he added.

LMA convention on Saturday

This year,the theme for the Lucknow Management Association (LMA) convention will be URBAN Transformation — A Roadmap. To be inaugurated by Governor B L Joshi at the Scientific Convention Centre on Saturday,the speakers for the convention will address urban problems related to infrastructure,immigrants,traffic,health,education,etc. Plans will also be put forth by experts for consideration and implementation by the government authorities.
