SP demands fresh panchayat polls

Alleging irregularities by the BSP government in the recent panchayat elections,the Samajwadi Party on Tuesday demanded that Governor B L Joshi order fresh polls in state. A delegation of SP leaders met Joshi and submitted a memorandum in this regard. “In the name of unopposed election,the BSP looted posts of district chairmen. The process should be cancelled and fresh polls be conducted,” the delegation demanded.

Cong for deferred block heads polls

A delegation of Congress leaders on Tuesday met the State Election Commissioner Rajendra Bhonwal and requested him to postpone the election for block heads by at least one week. The Congress made the request as dates of the election clash with the party’s proposed convention,said UPCC chief Rita Bahuguna Josh.

Govt signs MoUs for power generation

The state government on Tuesday signed two MoUs with Bajaj Hindustan and Parekh Aluminex for generation of 2,230 MW power in the state. While Bajaj Hindustan will set up a 1,980 MW plant at Bargarh in Chitrakoot (worth Rs 10,000 crore),Parek Aluminex will set up of a 250 MW plant (worth Rs 1,250 crore) at Fatehgarh.
