Six youths died after the car they were travelling in collided head-on with an oil tanker on the Delhi highway in Bulandshahr district’s Sikenderabad area in the wee hours of Wednesday. Bulandshahr SP (City) J K Shahi said the youths — Ankur,Golu,Gaurav and Tarun (all 18-years-old),Nitin (22) and Monu (20) of Noida’s Badalpur area — were returning home from a wedding in Bulandshahr City on Wednesday night. They had reached Bilsuri village in Sikanderabad when an oil tanker (HR 55 A-1566) hit their Indica car (DL 3 CU-4190). All of them died on the spot,said Shahi. The doctors have told the police that the deceased were in an inebriated condition when the accident took place,he added.

Two girls commit suicide in Lucknow

In separate incidents,two girls committed suicide in the Krishna Nagar police station area on Wednesday. Swati Gupta (22) hanged herself after she allegedly failed to get admission in a computer course due to financial problems. A resident of LDA Colony,Swati was pursuing MCom from a college in Gomti Nagar,said Krishna Nagar SHO Virendra Kumar. Her father Rakesh Gupta is a street food vendor. “No suicide note has been recovered. According to the family,Swati was depressed as she failed to get admission in a computer course due to lack of funds,” said Kumar.

In another incident,20-year-old Renu Kanaujiya committed suicide after she was scolded by her mother. She was found hanging in her room. Her father Jamuna Prasad is a bus driver in a private school. “No suicide note has been recovered,” said the SHO.

MLAs,MLCs funding kin,govt to file reply

The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court asked the state government on Wednesday to file within 10 days its reply on a writ petition seeking inquiry against MLAs and MLCs allegedly releasing money from their area development fund to institutions belonging to their relatives. A Division Bench comprising Justices Pradip Kant and Rituraj Awasthi passed the order on a PIL filed by one Rakesh Singh Bhadauria of Rae Bareli district. The petitioner alleged that an MLC from his district had released money from his area development fund to an educational institution run by a relative. The court has fixed December 10 as the next date of hearing.
