Robbers kill youth
Bahraich: Eight armed men barged into house of an advocate and killed his 26-year-old son before decamping with cash and jewellery worth lakhs of rupees. The miscreants entered the house of Vinod Kumar Singh,who is also former president of Kaiserganj Bar Association,and killed his son and injured six other members of his family,including Singhs wife on Thursday night,said police. They looted cash and ornaments worth lakhs of rupees. A team has been constituted to nab the gang involved in the crime, said DIG Devi Patan Anand Swaroop,who visited the scene of crime scene on Friday.
Kidnapped boy rescued,9 held
Lucknow/Firozabad: A team of STF and local police rescued a five-year-old boy,who was kidnapped 17 days ago,and arrested nine persons including two women from Jai Nagar area. Ishan,son of trade tax officer Sunil Kumar Singh,was kidnapped by the group which demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh from Singh,said Special DG (Law and Order) Brijlal. The boy was rescued on Thursday night with the arrest of five persons,while the rest were apprehended today by the Special Task Force (STF),he said. Those arrested have been identified as Radhey Shyam,Shyam Sunder,Rajesh,Ram Singh,Mukesh,Dharmendra,Beena Devi,Sunita and Nand Kishore,the officer said.
Transporter shot dead in his office
LUCKNOW: Transporter Satendra Singh,33,was shot dead by unidentified assailants at his office in Madiaon area of Lucknow on Friday evening. The office-Satyam Shivam Transport-is in Khadra locality.
Satendra succumbed to a bullet injury in his chest. We have come to know the motive behind the murder was a money dispute. The cashier was also sitting with Satendra in the office when the incident took place. We are taking details of the incident from him, said Circle Officer,Aliganj,Sureshrao A Kulkarni. A native of Barabanki,Surendra was a resident of Indrapuri colony.
Two IPS officers transferred
Lucknow: In a minor reshuffle in the police department,state government on Friday transferred two IPS officers. Inspector General (IG) Moradabad zone Javed Akhtar and IG Bareilly zone BP Singh have swapped places after the transfer,said officials.
